Thanks to a near-perfect alignment of the Earth, Moon, and Sun, eastern NC will see much of the Sun's face blocked by the Moon on the afternoon of April 8. The eclipse can't be viewed without the proper equipment, so please join our Elizabeth City campus for fun and safe ways to view this astronomical rarity!  Doors open at 2:00 p.m. as the eclipse is just beginning. The Sun will be at its darkest a little after 3:00; come early to experience ways of viewing eclipses and learn about these truly uncommon events. While you're on our campus, discover the many courses and career training opportunities COA has to offer. Children and families are welcome. Don't miss this opportunity to see an eclipse firsthand -- the next total solar eclipse in the contiguous United States won't come around until 2044! The NC Science Festival's annual Statewide Star Party is made possible through the generous support of the NC Space Grant. 1208 N Road St, Elizabeth City, NC 27909
