Sustainable Sandhills, in partnership with the City of Fayetteville, is hosting the Sandhills Region first Earth Day celebration on April 20, 2024. This event will raise awareness of local environmental projects as well as increase the public ability to make more sustainable choices through of local conservation and climate resiliency efforts. 2024 Fayetteville Earth Day events includes: - 5K/10K/Fun Run/Walk/Stroller Derby Run: The run will promote alternative transportation, parks and trails, and the goodness of Fayetteville. - Electric Vehicle Car Show and Dealer Test Drives: To promote alternative transportation to fossil fuel. - Sustainable Lane: Community partners provide STEM environmental educational activities to help young ones make better decisions about our Earth and Sustainability. “Humans working together in a symbiotic relationship for the greater good of our planet and each other.”   - Family Green Zone: Play area for children, with hands-on, engaging environmental activities, local mascots, inflatable toys, a climbing wall, face painting, and more. “Teach (Educate) our youth on how to be better stewards of our earth and each other. They are our future.” - The Green Market: Eco-friendly local artesian, produce, and protein providers highlighting the goodness of “Made from Scratch” local products from the Sandhills Region. - Drone obstacle course competition: To promote economic efficiency and new job opportunities for local high school graduates. - Cornhole Tournament: An alternative to electronic games. Promote outdoor activities that do not require energy use. - Food Trucks with ECO Station (compostable plates, flatware, cups, napkins): These will support eco-friendly, healthy food and zero waste. 335 Ray Ave, Fayetteville, NC 28301
